Tired of getting the same results?
Here’s a quick question for you:
Is your writing resolution the same this year as it was last year?
In other words, do you think you SHOULD be able to accomplish your writing goals all by yourself?
I feel you, fellow high-achiever. We’re good at stuff, right? We’re smart. We accomplish what we set out to do. And yet… we haven’t finished that book yet. Or that story. Or figured out our networking communications. Or submitted anything. And we struggle a bit more than we’d like.
I’ve got GREAT news:
Getting help is a great idea.
Books (stories, essays, LinkedIn posts, whatever) aren’t written perfectly the first time we sit down to write. First, we have an idea. We try to express our idea. We have no idea how it’s going to fly. So we need some feedback, or at least, some distance from it until we figure out what comes next.
Rinse and repeat forever.
Unless we have help to get off that hamster wheel of fear and second-guessing. Development help, editorial help, feedback help, coaching help.
Even Stephen King has editors and researchers and sounding boards.
Even the best have help making their works better, stronger, faster.
I have help. I take writing classes often. I hire coaches often. I have multiple accountability groups. It’s a lot easier than doing it on my own. It’s how I make it easier on myself.
So I’m inviting you right now to make your writing easier on yourself. Here are three choices for you:
- Do nothing and stay the same.
- Decide I’m not the person to help you – and unfollow!
- Get coaching. Getting help is a great idea.
What’s it gonna be?
